Awesome hut

The hut was amazing for a group of old friends. The hike from the hut to Mount Edwards and Grays peak was perfect. Thanks!!

First I won’t call this a hut. It’s a beautiful backcountry cabin. Very well stocked, this is not a 4 star hotel but it is the perfect get away from it all cabin. The hut has the most amazing views, has plenty of space and a nice kitchen with a indoor toilet bring ur own water, this is premier hiking country, did the Mt Edwards loop hike , 10.5 miles to 13,850 ft Edwards overlooking The 14’ers Grays and Torrey’s. The only Cons- the 4 wheel drive road in, definitely need HIGH clearance. It takes an hour to go 5.6 miles! Then there are all the jeeps,ATV and motorcycles everywhere. Unfortunately the hut sits right off the road and you get the dust and hear the traffic.

Only drive in if you have a 4X4 with a lot of clearance

The hut was fantastic! well-stocked, and super comfortable. it was just my wife and I so we had the whole place to ourselves. nice big windows with great views and tons of room out back for our pup to explore and play. one word of caution though: if you're driving up like we did, make sure your car can handle some pretty rough off-road terrain. we barely made it in our subaru forester, and looking back we probably should have never attempted it. you'll need a 4X4 with a lot of clearance. other than the drive (our fault), it was perfect and we'll definitely be back!!

So happy to hear you guys enjoyed yourselves! Our dogs love it too 😁

Mountainsmith loves the Tundra Hut!

We chose the Tundra Hut for our annual company Hut Trip. It was the perfect spot to bring some media friends as well, as they got a taste for the backcountry with the comforts of the hut. We were able to set up some tents around the hut for those that wanted to wake up to the killer sunrise. We even saw a couple moose on the hike out! 5/5 for a relatively accessible getaway that feels like the middle of the backcountry.

Glad you all enjoyed yourselves! We hope you’ll come back, maybe in the winter 😁

Our stay at the Tundra Hut was great! Having a potable water cistern with an automatic pump for the kitchen and bathroom sinks, an indoor toilet, solar panels for lights and small electronics and a residential cooktop/oven fueled by an onsite propane tank are brilliant considering where this modern cabin is. Be sure to download/print a map of the valley before you go because once you enter it's a very, very low signal for any mobile carrier. This cabin is ideal for the off road enthusiast. Bring water, water and water.

Very clean and comfortable

This was the nicest hut I've ever stayed in. Our friend group and dogs had an amazing time both in and outside the hut. The wood burning stove kept us nice and warm. The enormous windows made us feel like we were outside when we were warm inside while it rained. Our GPS said our hike in was 8 miles, but we got lost a few times. The trail is not well marked and we made some wrong turns onto 248.1A/I/B. Basically you don't go off on the trails/roads with a letter after 248.1. Thanks again to our hosts who answered the phone while we were lost to help us get back on track! Would love to visit again.

Thank you Margaret! Happy to hear you all enjoyed yourselves. We hope you’ll come back and stay again.

Thanks for Sharing!

Great little hut, perfect for up to 8 people. Ski in was gradual, a little longer mileage than stated but worth it. Had a snowy morning for a skin in to welcoming hut. Great low angle, skiing around the hut for our annual girls trip! Made 6 laps and got freshies each time. Only recommendation would be some extra hooks around fireplace and perhaps a rack for skins in the winter. Stove was a bonus. Thanks for a great time!

I want to thank you for having such a fantastic hut that felt cozy, homey & the best backcountry accommodations we've ever experienced. We had so much fun that we are already making plans to return in a different season, especially since we are now more familiar with the hike & shortcut.

Great Year Round Hut

My son and I had a great weekend up at the Tundra Hut. Such a great setup inside with plenty to do outside. We'll be back for sure!

Thanks Shane! Happy to hear you both had a good time! Amy and Tom
